Having a pet is not only about getting a pup from your local animal shelter, being a pet owner involves other responsibilities like pet grooming, feeding and puppy toilet training. In puppy toilet training, the solution needs to be found quickly before carpets and floors of your house are ruined.
Prior to doing any methods in puppy toilet training, it is very important to spend some outside time with your puppy on a leash. This is very helpful especially when it comes to puppies because these dogs have small bladders that they cannot control as well. You can use a simple command like “do you wanna go for a walk?” or other words that can be associated with the act of grabbing the leash near the door.
Moreover, you can also use other visual and verbal gestures that will support potty activities outdoors. While you and your pet are walking around the neighborhood, you do not have to speed up the process of letting your puppy go because this process may take a little while.
Another important thing to keep in mind is the mistake of making the potty walk a playtime activity, doing so will only confuse your puppy.Once you and your puppy have taken the outside walks on a regular basis, make an effort to figure out what your pet’s body language is saying. When your puppy paws at the front door, consider taking him out.
You may also consider walking your pet shortly after his meal to encourage the potty training. If you happen to notice your pet is sniffing in corners or certain areas where he has had accidents in the past. Keep in mind that puppies need special attention these dogs have smaller bladders and lack of control.
